While printing my boarding passes, I read the "know before you go information". The Volendam is not listed as one of the ships that have self service laundry. All Oceania ships have a self service laundry on deck seven. I found the self-service laundry was fine if you timed it right. I never waited in line, just went away and came back later if the place was full. Best times are around 6pm when everyone is getting ready for dinner etc.
The R class ships have one very small self-service laundry room. I used to go in there but gave up because they were always crowded. While on Sirena 11/2022 in a B2, with 630 passengers, my wife had no trouble doing a load of laundry. I was pleasantly surprised.
I've never bothered with doing my own laundry with the above approach, and never needed to pay for laundry. Forget "formal night" on Royal, it really isn't a thing any more. I don't think it is marked on the website deck plan as laundry, They have 4 washers/4 dryers and ironing boards/irons.
The self service laundries will be busy on sea days, especially where there are only two sea days for a 12 day cruise. You may want to get on line early. Yes, there is a laundry onboard where you can have things done.
55. November 18, 2015. Washington. #7. Posted July 24, 2019. We were on the Miracle in May 2017, if I remember correctly there is laundry self serve on every other floor. However, different locations, mid-ship, aft, and some are bigger with more machines than other. But they are there.
